What To Expect at a Spinal Health Assessment in Penrith

Many people feel nervous before a first appointment

That is completely normal.

If you have never seen a chiropractor before, or if you have had mixed experiences elsewhere, you may be wondering what will happen, whether anything will be done without your consent, and whether it is all going to feel a bit intimidating.

My aim is the opposite of that.

At Your Spinal Health in Penrith, the assessment is designed to help you understand what is going on and whether my gentle approach is likely to help.

It starts with listening

The first part is hearing your story properly.

How did the problem begin? What makes it worse? What have you tried? Has it affected sleep, work, walking, driving, or confidence?

This matters because symptoms rarely make sense in isolation. The pattern, timing, and background often tell you a great deal.

Then I look at how your body is functioning

I do not just ask where it hurts.

I look at posture, movement, stiffness, how your body is compensating, and whether there are signs that the problem is mechanical or whether you should be seen elsewhere.

This is one of the biggest reasons people say things finally make sense after the assessment. A clear explanation is often a big part of feeling less worried.

Is treatment always done?

That depends on what I find and whether it is appropriate.

If gentle treatment is suitable, I may begin helping the body on that first visit. If it is not the right thing, I will say so.

I am not interested in keeping people coming if there is no good reason.

What is the treatment like?

My work is gentle. No forceful cracking. No being pushed into positions you dislike.

The goal is to support the body’s natural healing, reduce strain, and help it move more normally again.

What should you wear?

Comfortable clothing is usually best. The main thing is being able to move easily enough for me to assess what is going on.

What happens after the assessment?

If the problem looks suitable for care, I will explain what I think is happening and what a sensible plan might look like.

That does not mean pressure or endless visits. It means giving you a realistic idea of the likely pattern of recovery and what we are looking for as signs of progress.
